Bosley has a growth on his thumb. It takes up his right dew claw. The vet is pretty sure it is squamous cell carcinoma. If it is just in that area, the vet can easily perform surgery to remove the lump, and all will be well.
But there is more to the story. Bosley's lymph glands are swollen. He has a bit of a cough occasionally, and I've noticed he is just plain lethargic. It could be nothing. It could be everything.
A biopsy was performed yesterday on the lump and on his neck lymph nodes. Bosley behaved like a trooper. Biopsies are not overly pleasant, but he endured the poking and prodding and had a smile, a lick and a tail wag for everybody present after the procedure was all over. The specimens were shipped off yesterday. Now we wait.
I'm thinking the best, I'm thinking the worst. My mind is racing over all the possibilities. In the meantime, the dog is asleep and is dreaming of running. Maybe I should take a page from his book right now and not "think" too much until I have more news to share.
