Life with a Hearing Dog: Bosley is an Honourary Toastmaster!

I am sure this is a first. Bosley has been inducted as an honourary member of the Sunshine Speakers Club of Orillia, of Toastmasters International. I have scanned a copy of the certificate.

What is a Hearing Ear Dog?

Hearing ear dogs alert deaf/hard of hearing people to sound. They also give people more independence and confidence. The dog hears a sound and alerts the handler by touch, then leads the handler to the sound.

Bosley alerts me to timers, alarm clocks, fire alarms, the phone, the door, the kettle, and people calling my name. He also lets me know if someone is walking behind us up a dark street, or if there is someone around the house he doesn't know.

Bosley is a labrador retriever. Typical breeds used for hearing ear dogs are small to medium-sized, such as a miniature poodles, but labs are used, and so are standard poodles.
